Hello All,

The 60 gallon is still cycling....and now I am wondering if I made a mistake with the Emperor 400 biowheel HOB Filter.....its kind of noisy but it does keep the water polished.

I have been reading and I see some people suggesting that a filter is not necessary if you have a decent amount of Live Rock, a CUC, and a decent skimmer.

Sump is out of the question for now...but may be a possibility in the future.
The tank will be a FOWLR tank and I plan on having no more than 8-10 small fish with a CUC.... I have a good amount of base rock and live rock...the substrate is crushed coral. The water has been testing perfectly for the past few tests (every 2-3 days). I used the cocktail shrimp method and it all looks great.

I am just trying to be ahead of the game rather then behind it...so a good inexpensive HOB Skimmer would be?

And can I lose the biowheel emperor 400 or keep it?
