I think its a sponge

I have a piece of rock that has several dark red/black sponge feeling things growing on it... There's at least three different spots that its grown on what are these things: here are some pictures can't anything better on my iPod ill try uploading some later on my PC

Thanks like this sponge is spreading all over this piece of rock
