watergrl08 hears surf in the shell
Ich question

Can treating the tank for ich actually make the fish get the sickness?

Depending on the medication it may lower their immune system responses and make them more succeptible, say copper or formalin, but at least with copper you would be killing the parasite whereas with Formalin you wouldn't. Either way all treatments should be performed in a separate quarantine tank and I would first begin with hyposalinity since most medications are rather harsh.
