Is this newly setup? Looks like the growth off liverock when first cycling. May well be a sponge, or Bactria colony living off dying inverts. Will probably disappear in a week or 2.

No, the tanks been going for two years. The grey blob has been there about eight months, but it looks more hairy now.

Did that eventually turn into a hairy algae patch? Causu I see that then 2 weeks later I have an underwater yard that needs mowed....been fighting it for months
