LED lighting?

Anyone have any experience with just LED lighting in their FOWLR?

I personally don't but it seams like an awfully expensive way to light a tank that wouldn't need intense lighting. LED lights can be really expensive, I do think there are some cheap ones that aren't rated for corals, but I think you would be better of with a cheap T5 high efficiency strip. I ran a two bulb T5HE from Deep Blue on my 65 FOWLR, looked nice and was cheap to run.

I believe the fixture only cost me 60 bucks now that I think of it, it had moonlight led's as well.

Deep Blue Solarmaxhe2 Double T5 10000k Strip W/LED 36" ADB42236

I just ordered 2- 9 LED blue strips to give a nite view to my 60 gallon tank. 6.25 each. I have a box full of dc power supplies, add a 2 dollar switch, easy as pie.

If you're meaning coral-sustaining LEDs I agree with purevil in that it's a waste.

If you're talking something like the marineland stuff there's no problem. FOWLR and FO lighting is all about what looks good to you since there's nothing needing any light in it
