I have a 48" light fixture that has 2 24" bulbs in it. I bought it with the aquarium set that was named for saltwater use. I know I can have an all-fish tank with no inverts or coral or anything, but how do I know if that fixture can handle better bulbs. What do I look for?

Generally most of those fixtures are sent with the maximum wattage as far as bulbs go. Just replace them with the same bulbs.

You can have inverts under that lighting. When I had my lid, I had two urchins and some shrimp. I am not too sure about corals, but I think you could get low light corals, some one with coral experience might be able to help a lot more.

Does the lid have a sticker on it that tells the max you could add? If not check the website of the manufacturer or google the lid brand....
