After months of planning I'm finally on my way

Here we go with 50 lbs base rock from hirocks.com

Here's the 45lbs LR

It came damp, with fairly good color, and no bad smell. Only time will tell at this point.

BTW, should I throw in a shrimp to start the cycle, or will the die off from the rock be enough?

what exactly is base rock ( does it include your sand) cause all i see is one big rock...also is it necessary to have? and what kind of live rock did u go with? your tank looks awsome hope mine turns out that nice

Base rock is just dead dry rock. The LR should "seed" the base rock and eventually turn it into LR. I could have bought 100lbs of LR but splitting it 50/50 was cheaper.

does making a 50/50 mixture of live rock and base rock hinder or slow down the cycling process....does it prolong the amount of time before u can add fish?

Awesome!

BTW, I see you're a Man U fan  Be sure to look me up if you're ever in this neck of the woods because I live 5 mins from Old Trafford

I lived in Knutsford until I was 15, and grew up going to Old Trafford.

I'm off to Philly and NJ this summer to watch them on their US tour again.
