Live Rock on sand

I was wondering if you are supposed to put the live rock on the sand or are you supposed to move some sand and put it on the glass can anyone give me an answer plz

better to put it on the glass. otherwise the sand can shift and the rock and move, and it could topple down and crush fish, corals, inverts, or damage the glass.

I used to put mine on "egg crate" that is used in lighting but when I redid my reef I got rid of it. I put mine on my LS and made sure it was pushed down pretty far.

I added 1/4 of the sand, then rock. With the other 3/4s on top.
