Live rock with medusa worm

I inherited 150 pounds of live rock and in 1 piece there was a medusa worm. Jumped the gun and pulled the rock out and soaked it for 20 minutes in dechlorinated tap water. The tank is only newly cycled. Can I save my rock without recycling my tank?

The rock is now sitting on my porch out of water...

Dunking a rock that has such a worm in it into non-saltwater will make it come out very quickly.

Whats wrong with Medusa worms? I was cleaning my rocks and something started to come out of it, I put it back, it disappeared moments later.
