Looking for lights...

Hey Gang,

I just went to a LFS and saw this light unit on top of a 20 gallon reef...

Aquarium Lighting T5 Fluorescent Light Fixture: AquaticLife T5 HO and Lunar Light Fixtures

I'm looking to upgrade the light on my FOWLR tank, and I would love this unit, but is it overkill since I don't have corals?

Any suggestions?

Rob

Looks like all those fixtures are 4 bulbs? Your fish won't care too much one way or the other. If you're going T5 on a fowlr, the amount of bulbs you need is really dependent on the look you want in your tank. Depending on what you want, you may be fine with a 2 bulb fixture...1 daylight, 1 actinic; 2 actinics etc. It really just depends on how you want your tank to look.

Any idea what you might like?

Thanks for the reply. Actually I'm not sure what I want. I do know that the cheap, one bulb, florescent light is not nearly bright enough. I love how some tanks I see here and at our lfs have a super bright and clean look.

Just keep in mind that too much light over a FOWLR is liable to generate some algae issues.
