I've never tried, but from what i hear its almost impossible unless you have a huge reef system to make them feel at home and even then its a challenge. That has always kept me away from trying.

ya. seems like a big risk. instead i might get a longfin bannerfish. they actually call it the poor mans moorish idol cause they look so similar.

There was a member on here who had one and managed to keep it a live only for a few months, and THAT was unexpected. It eventually died. They need fed LOTS of food many times a day, but they ususally are too stressed to even eat. Not something I'd tackle at all, due to the beauty of the fish and the price. Better left in the ocean.

The Longfin Banners aren't reef safe and might nip at inverts.

I was going to say that neither fish are reef safe so if you are planning on corals or have any then you`ll be in trouble.

Skip the idol. They have a very dismal survival record in captivity.
