Mopani wood safe for saltwater?

I purchased a piece of Mopani Wood 3 days ago. I've had it soaking in a tub and changing the water 2-3 times a day. The tannins are still seeping out. Once the water is clear ater a day of soaking, I want to place it in my 55 gallon fish only saltwater tank.
Does anyone have a piece in their tank? I want to make sure the water remains clear and the ph doesn't get effected. Or is this just a poor choice of a decorative piece?
I have a emperor 400 for filtration.

I know mopani is OK for FW, not sure I know of anyone who's ever put it in a SW tank though.
