new

hi i`m new to the salt water world. i have a 75gal fowlr it`s been going for about 2.5 mts it`s going good but i have a brown alge on my live rock and sand is this bad or will it burn away the levels are goos except nitrAte at 40 i have i clown and 5 green chromis. i do a pwc every 2 weeks should i be changing more or is this ok
any help would be great

Welcome to AA

The brown algae is normal for new tanks and will eventually die out or a couple of hermits/snails can knock it out in days.

How did you cycle your tank?

The nitrates are a problem also. I would switch to weekly PWC`s till you get them under control. Also you need to feed every other day IMO.

i will start to do more pwc. i feed the fish everyother day. i`m getting ready to get the protein skimmer but was wondering if i should get the cleanup crew first there will be about a 2 week diff between getting the 2

Also you`ve already done it but next time or if you have any friends cycle your tanks read this article. It`s pretty important.
