I have two powerheads for my 55 gallon aquarium. I plan to have fish, live rock, and invertebrates. Where should I place the powerheads? Should I put them on top of each other on one side or one on each side of the tank, etc...?

I have mine either side of the tank both pointing at each other so the current collides and go all over the place

Put them on either side of the tank pointing at the front middle of the tank. When the flow collides against the front of the tank it will create good turbulence. That was corals get good but not direct flow. You also want them to be pointed towards the water line a bit so that you get a good ripple on the water. This helps with the gas exchange and oxygenation.
