Yes. Once your cycle is done you can add your CUC then start adding fish after that. But I would suggest getting your CUC from your LFS that way you have less deaths than shipping.

I would start with 15 Snails and 15 Blue Leg Hermits. But for me in time I kind of ditch the hermits once they are done eating the waste and algae sometimes they can become an issue with catching your fish sleeping in the middle of the night and eating them. But that's only when they become larger.

So with a HOB Skimmer, would i have to have the water pump submerged in the tank? SO generally the idea of the sump is to have all of the cleanign done out of the tank and basically just for the internal of tank have a better apearance?

yep.. exactly.. get's the heaters and skimmer out of the display tank and down into the sump.

I started with a HOB skimmer as well and it transfered down into my sump quite easily.

I have the AquaC Remora Pro w/Mag3 pump. I recommend that one as well.. I;ve never used the other models so I wont compare. All I'll say is that the remora does kick butt. I hated the way it looked in the DT but now that it's in the sump, I love it. The cool thing is that it didn't take up valuable sump space as it's a HOB, so most of my 20L sump is being used as a refugium.. However, If I had a cabinet style stand for my tank, it might now have worked as the remora is actually taller then the 20L.

Now, all you see in my tank are my Old Ugly AquaClear Powerheads , my overflow box, and my return line. Powerheads will be swapped out for Korilla's eventually.

Well being that im in an apartment right now and will have to move the tank at some point, im going to wait on the sump.

How much Total rock will i need if i just have 2 powerhead 50's and a HOB skimmer?

How much sand do i need to buy for 55gal? Whats the best option for brand etc? I do plan on going to coral.

Whats the going rate for Reef Crystals Salt Mix? Im assuming i should get that online for price concerns

Does anyone have a good DIY Sump thread link? Im convienced i need a 10gal to do this correctly for the long haul. Im going to have to tear down the tank when i move anyways, so whatever.. Im not a half @** type of guy, so if ima do it at all, im going to do it right! Im a pretty good DIYer, so im going to try to save money in that area. Ill make a 10gal slump with heater in it, rubble filter and skimmer, under tank. I have tempered glass, so i cannot drill.. gonna have to research overflows a little more. I have a rug obviously in my apt living room, so im def going to make sure overflow is setup properly.

So rock/sand/cycle is put on hold, as i build my sump. Any Guides available? Any advice?
Thanks!
