Turned off my skimmer yesterday cause it is junk. It added a lot of the oxygen to the tank (that wasn't why it was junk) today my foxface seems to be breathing hard. Is my filter adding enough oxygen or do I need another method of oxygen?

What filter are you speaking of, and why shut the skimmer off if it's doing something good?
You need water movement in your tank and it can't be just coming from a simple canister filter. Do you have power heads in the tank?

One maxi jet 1200 and an emperor 400 filter. The skimmer was a sea clone and couldn't get the air flow adjusted correctly it either didn't produce skim mate or overflowed after a few minutes

What size tank is this? I would have a lot more flow in the tank. Meanwhile, I would turn the skimmer back on to at least get the gas exchange benefit.
