Phosphate Remover?

I was reading that I should have a phosphate remover in my canister filter. If this is true, how important is it. Thanks.

Have you tested your water for phosphates?

Don't have to remove it unless you've got it.

You plan on doing reef? If not, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

If your just doing fish only, phosphates won't bother your fish. It will however fuel nuisance algae growth. As long as you keep up on water changes, probably won't be an issue for you though.
