I have noticed that I have q tip sponges in my protein skimmer at the base of the cylinder. Is that normal?

It's normal in my tank!

But seriously... I do think it's normal for them to show up where there's an accumulation of good stuff to eat. And for them, I would think a skimmer would be a pretty good place to eat!

There`s nothing wrong with it.

Some of those hitch hiking sponges are great. They will host your beneficial bacteria as well as filter the water.

I am starting to see these guys everywhere in my tank. Are they going to take the whole thing over?

Probably not, they tend to stay in the shaded areas....

im not sure but i dont think so because they grew on my rocks when i had them and it was pretty much direct to it... mine just disappeared when i added more clean up crew.
