Replacing LR with artificial LR?

I'm thinking about replacing my live rock (save for 2lbs for filtration) with an artificial live rock structure in my 29 gal biocube. My question has anyone done this before? Is it ok for a reef rank as long as I keep a little? Will corals stick to fake LR? I have someone already interested in my LR on Sunday so any advice immediately would be helpful!
