So my salinity is too high... I know the simple solution to this would be to do a water change. I was wondering though, Can i just add dechlorinated water to the top of the tank without taking some out first? I know this could cause a problem with the nitrates and would hate for my laziness to be the cause of my fish' death.
Any thoughts on the matter?

If a water change is the only solution is there such thing as changing the water too much after it has already been cycled?

Welcome to AA!

well, the general idea to lower you salinity is to add more pure water to dilute the salt. That being said, you can just add more freshwater to reduce the salinity in the tank.

If you run a sump, or something that has an ATO or other features that requires the operating water level to be at a set point, you're going to have to remove some water first, then replace with fresh water back to the operating point.
