Afternoon everyone,

Mixed up a batch of salt water for the Sunday waterchange, and accidently added too much salt (specific gravity of 1.030).

I'm waiting for the RO unit to kick out some more fresh water. Just wondering how much I'm going to need to dilute the salt water mix back down to 1.025.

Does specific gravity go up and down in a linear manner....

e.g. a 5 gallon bucket of water @ 1.030 added to 5 gal of RO water @ 1.000 -- would the new specific gravity (of the 10 gallons of water) be 1.015?

TIA

It should be a calculated measurement but who has the time. It would be more of a % of fresh water to the total volume to reduce the overall sg. I do as xxfirefighter said and adjust as needed.
