Sand for saltwater

I am setting up a 30 gal saltwater tank and I have extra sand from my freshwater tank left can I use that or should I remove it out?

It depends... what kind of sand is it? Most people in the hobby use aragonite sand which will help buffer the water but it's not absolutely necessary.
