good day,

I was wondering since my tank is now 6 months, should i have some critter to sift the sand? I notice on the front, inside the glass, these pencil line thin red worm looking things. They are not moving at least i cant see them moving.

I didn't know if things that are there should be sifted. Or if the sand will get dead spots as i have read.

Any suggestions?

two spot or diamond gobies are a good choice for sand sifting. YOu can also look into a sand sifting star as well.

I had two diamond watchman gobies and they both jumped out of my tank! Make sure you cover your tank or have some kind of egg crate thing.

For the few days I had them, I did like how they sifted my sand.

I also like those nassarius snails but my LFS never have them in!

I am going to get a couple of brittle stars for my tank too..I heard they are also good working in the sand and eating detritus.
