Goldfish are horrible feeders, usually disease ridden. Not to mention they probably should not be fed to a sw fish/ lionfish. If you need to feed live try ghost shrimp or get some frozen silversides and feed them pieces of that on tongs.

I have tried the silversides and he never ate them.

Probably just time, it needs to settle, my sand took about a week to settle, water is like crystal now it's perfect, I did it whilst it cycled

feeder shrimp would be a good alternative if you have a spare tank around to breed them in . I had very good luck breeding saltwater feeder shrimp , live minnows is another choice but they can be expensive
