I just picked up an established tank and after removing the live rock to transport it home when I went to put the rock back in I found a sandworm in the cooler I transported the rock home in.

Is it OK to have it in the tank? I hope so since I went with the assumption that he was in there so I put it back in.

Good or bad move? Anyone??

Almost 99% of the worms you find are good worms. As long as he is not huge, I would say toss him back in the tank.

Well that good news. Not huge , maybe 3 or 4 inches or so. I put him back figuring he was in there so he went back where he came from.

I know some of the worms I use for Striper fishing are huge , and he was nowhere near that size so guess I made the right decision. First salt tank so lots to learn.

Thank you.

There is probably lots of other stuff in and on the rock you will notice if you look carefully. Look up live rock hitchhikers to get an idea of the wide variety of stuff you can find.
