SeaClone Protein Skimmer... is it good enough?

I'm about to get it at www.drsfostersmith.com but i want to know if its good for my 75 gal. tank. also i'm getting CD-11979 which is 25" long and my aquarium is only like 21" long, though its obvious by sie that it won't hang right... I think there just might be enough space because the parts hanging above the aquarium counts as the length... im not sure... thanks guys.. hope to get some answers...

IMO, it is not a good enough unit for a tank your size. Seaclones do fine on smaller tanks but really cant do the job on the larger ones.

mike,

I would highly advise against buying a seaclone protein skimmer. they are highly inefficient, noisy, and IME just flat out not worth the cash. In fact I would go skimmerless before buying one of those. You could easily get a cheap aquatraders skimmer that would likely yield better results for less.

They are plenty efficient on smaller tanks. I have had 2 on tanks 55 and under and they did a fine job. And yes, I do have others to compare it to.

so even if i'm buying the one that says it's up to 150 gal tanks it still won't do the job?!?... hmm, I don't really want to spend much money on a skimmer so I heard from a lot of people that this is the best bang for the buck, (better than a Jebo)... Can any of u guys suggest any other brands than that, also I heard good things about AquaC but the price is just way too much for me.... thanks again

yes, they are great skimmers and yes they are pricey. If there is a LFS near you, I would ask if they have any used equipment for sale.
