Snail explosion

Today 1 of my snails gave off like a whitey orange volcano like explosion. I've been informed that this is it mating. Is this correct and is there any reason to be worried? Don't wont like a million snails in the tank.

Snails are good for your tank and yes its probably just the 'sperm'

Yup one of my snails did that one day the weirdest thing I have seen a snail do. This was quite some time ago and I seem to not be overrun with snails. Quite the site to see.
