spec gravity

Hey guys...ideal spec gravity is about 1.023. In my small tank (20 gallon) it has risen to above that and rising slowly. Does this mean the salinity is getting higher or lower? How to fix?

If SG is rising, your salinity is increasing.

This is probably because of evaporation. Only water will evaporate, so if you replace it with salt water your salinity will go up. To fix it I would suggest doing a water change with water of the proper salinity.

Replacing the evaporation with non-saltwater (RO/tap/bottled/whatever your water choice) will bring you back in line.

Your water is evaporating and thus concentrating the saltwater solution in the tank.

If a PWC is in order, that will take care of it as well.

As mentioned before top off your tank with FW and you`ll be OK. I keep mine around 1.025-1.026.
