Substitute live rock

I was at the local Petco and found something called Rockgarden Tufa rock. I picked it up and it seemed very porus. Has anybody used this stuff and would it eventually make good live rock.

Do some reading on limestone in SW aquaria. Looks like it can affect Ph, but I haven't seen anything saying don't use it.
