Just making sure the procedure that I have in my head is right.

- Put LR in a trash can with tank water in it

- Put fish in another small container

- Drain water into containers, leaving just enough water level left to cover sand

- Swap the stand

- Refill the tank with 50% new water 50% reused water using a plate or some other tool to try not to disturb the sand

- Put LR back into tank

- Acclimate fish and place back into DT

That about the gist of it?

sounds about right to me.... i might even just use all the original water and do a PWC in the next day or two... fish might be kind of stressed from all the moving around? just a thought.

Ok thanks. Also I wanted to add some more sand while im doing this too. Whats the process for me adding sand while my tank is almost empty? Can i just put it right on top?

Yes, Is it aragonite sand? Rinse it first to get any dust size particles out of it.
