Tangs or butterfly fish in a 55?

Can I put 2 yellow tangs in my 55 gal fowlr? They would be the only fish in there. or would 2 butterfly fish be better?

You shouldn't keep either.
The tangs are open water swimmers and need much more room.
Butterfly's also need more room and are difficult to keep.

any suggestions on similar looking, low aggression fish?

I would say a yellow angel but they can be nasty too. lol But that would be a good fish for a 55g. and a few others of course

I agree with the Yellow or Lemonpeel Dwarf Angel idea, but only one. You could add other fish with that, but Tangs and Butterflys are not a good idea.

what about if I kept 2 tangs until they were too big for the tank and sold them to the lfs?

Tangs need lots of space to cruise around or they stress. Stress leads to health issues. Being in a tank that is too small can lead to stunted growth, if they live long enough to get to that point. It is simply a bad idea.
