Tentacles? Either thats aiptasia or hydroids. And aptaisia is bad, and some species of the hydroids are bad too. Do you know what they are for sure? So what is your question though? Was that it? What those tentacle things were? If so, then theres your answer lol.

You'll probably get a lot better and more thourough answers from the more experianced people in here but; I would think you're livestock as acclimated to the conditions of your tank over time. Any drastic changes would probably stress them hard. What are you're water parms? You need to focus on those and getting them back in balance. Use a siphon to do frequent water changes and get out as much of the muck and algea as possible. My thinking is that you would want to slowly reverse the condition of the tank so the livestock will have time to acclimate.
