Maybe someone in here can help. Yesterday I bought a purple dottieback and a firefish goby and they are both currently in my QT.

Well the dottiebock is doing fine but the firefish tail fin is fraying. what could be causing this? My water is good. He ate fine this evening when I fed them.

Any suggestions?

Regards

1st nice to see that you QT. Now the dotti may be chasing the FF do they both have a place to hide in the QT I use 4in elbows mixed with some 1in elbows How big is the qt tank? Do you test water (qt)at least every other day? Traites can spike in a matter of hrs.

thanks Grizz.

When you say elbows do you mean like plumbing from a hardware store? is it PVC ? Safe for the tank? Sounds like an awesome idea.

Grizz or anyone else - are you talking PVC pipe from a hardware store?

You were absolutely right though -- I saw the dotti chasing the FF around today. I'm scared he is gonna stress my FF to DEATH.

I'm pretty sure it's the regular old PVC pipes you can get at a hardware store. They will probably settle down after a while but it's good to provide enough hiding spaces so the firefish doesn't stress out.
