To Feed Or Not To Feed?

I will be setting up a 46 gal. fish only tank with live sand & dead coral in the near future.I would like to know if I need to feed the live sand with a protein source while I wait a week or two before getting fish.I'll be testing the water during this 1 or 2 week period but if I need to feed the sand, can I use little flake food or must it be a piece of shrimp?

Welcome to AA. You dont need to feed the sand. You do have to cycle the tank before you add any livestock.
