Trigger is finally showing his face, but only eats silversides?

Hello all. I got my trigger about a week and half ago and he is just starting to swim around. He only eats silversides. I have tried fresh clams on the shell, my homemade gel based food, squid, mussels, plankton, brine shrimp, mysis, krill, live ghost shrimp, live crayfish, and NLS. He will only eat silversides. I find that strange considering he's a planktivore and he only eats silversides. Will this change in time? In past experience's with planktivore triggers they usually eat everything right from the get go. I have tried the foods soaked in garlic and selcon and un-soaked. What do you think? Here are some new pics of him anyway. Thanks, Tim

How many days have you tried only providing your blender mush w/the garlic and zoe?

Just wondering what if you let him go for 2 or 3 days with only the blend.

I agree with Ray. How long have let it go before feeding another silverside?

haha sounds like your spoiling your fish! Little kids would probably only eat Popsicles and ice cream if you let them get away with it.

It looks like his tail is being nipped. What else do you have in there?

He is doing much better. His fins were like that when i got him. I think the biggest problem with the trigger being shy is that the big black tang is scaring him a bit.

The tang isn't aggressive towards, no tail slapping or chasing. The tang will swim near him and he will cower. Things seem to be getting better everyday and hopefully will continue. Thank you everyone for you help!!!!!!! Regards, Tim

Great looking trigger! Keep trying a variety of foods and use a garlic suppliment to intise the fish a bit. Hold off on the silversides for few days and let the trigger "learn" what to eat from the other fish in the tank. Insure good water parameters and no bullies and the fins should return to normal in a few weeks. Good luck...keep us posted.

The trigger came with the nipped fins. Well all as healed now and is doing great. He is such a docile trigger. He even lets the emperor angel clean him. Really cool to watch. When the angel comes near him, the trigger puts body almost flat like a pancake and lets the angel take a look. It's like watching monkeys!!! Anyway here are some updated pics of him that are about 2 weeks old. Regards, Tim
