What is QT?

As I was reading about Spotted Mandarins, I read something about QT them... What is that mean?

QT stands for Quarantine. This means to host the new fish, coral, etc, in a standalone tank for observation prior to putting them into your main display tank. This is to protect your tank from potential parasites or diseases the new critters may carry.

To be more precise, to Quarantine is to medicate any and all new animals for a period of at least 30 days while non-medicating is for Holding tanks.
