What kind of filtration for fowlr?

Ok so i was wondering if a protein skimmer along with 20 pounds of live rock would be enough filtration in my 55 gallon fowlr?

All depends on bio load and fish selection ...

well ill be adding a pair of clowns
one yellow tang
two gobies
and a butterfly fish
plus a clean up crew...
would a skimmer be enough for that?

If it was me I would have at least one pound of LR and a skimmer. That would be enough IMO.

Butterfly fish are tough fish to keep and the tang can't go in a 55g tank unfortunately. :-(

^ Yep, avoid the tang for certain.

ok no tang... and today my lfs persuaded me to get a sump/refugium.

I'm defiantly doing a refugium with macro algae and live sand and rock rubble with many a snail or crab...i heard the bio balls are a nitrate factory
