I've started getting those white little coralline like dots on the back glass. Is it ok to just use a scraper to get them off and best way to keep them off?

These are a type of "POD" I believe. They are thriving on the abundance of nutrients in the water. They should be more noticable after water changes. They are not bad. In fact they are good. A little unsightly but not something to worry about.

woody might be describing tubeworms. I forgot the specific name but they are harmless. You can scrape them off w/ a scraper. They are an indication of excessive nutrients in the water. If you want keep them off, do some WC's to lower the nutrient level in the water. They'll start to die off as the water gets better.
