I personally would go for at least a RO unit and preferably a RO/DI unit.

It would work, but you would be spending more on DI resin in a month than to buy an RODI unit. As Mike said, Ro filter is better in the long run.

I am currently using the same purifier and I am going to get a RO/DI unit eventually. Spend the extra money and get the RO/DI it is cheaper in the long run. You will need to replace the cartridge once a month or every 125g of water ran thru it and the cartridges are $20 so it will cost you $240 a year to use it.
