I have read that they are jumpers. Do I need to have the tank completely covered. The back of my tank has a large opening because of my prizm skimmer. I can't get my glass cover to completely cover the tank. I plan on cutting the glass top so it can cover more of the tank or get a better skimmer. Maybe a bakpak. I relly like the yellow watchman but I don't want the fish to jump out.

If you put a glass cover over your top then you stand to possibly have a lower PH due to poor gas exchange on your surface. Alot of people use eggcrate.

tand to possibly have a lower PH due to poor gas exchange

Agreed, plus the heat might ba a factor.

degbowl, i got my eggcrate from home deopt.

I do not have a top on my tank and have kept a yellow watchma for over two years. It always stays on the bottom of the tank. Not an issue.

mine is always on the bottom of the tank also....... he doesnt venture anywhere else, so i havent worried about it... hth

FishFrik,
I got my eggcrate at Home Depot, or you might try Lowes.....I think it was only a few $s.
