Consiquences of improper set up?
what kind of impurities could sneak through the filter if the preasure is too high or too low or if the filter is not set up properly?

That is a broad question. Pressure affects flow rate not bypass. What do you mean by "not set up properly"? If you have left your backflush open, no big deal on bypass but you will get almost no water. If you mis-install your DP or other cartridges (and I have....) then they will be bypassed.

I think it's 80-100 psi. Mine works well with 40-50psi from the well pump, but I'm going with booster pumps when I get the greenhouse up and running since I'll need a good bit more water.

Do you keep the waste water open at 40 psi logan? I noticed I don't get 10% of the [acronym:4294aecc1b="Reverse osmosis"]RO[/acronym:4294aecc1b]/[acronym:4294aecc1b="Deionization"]DI[/acronym:4294aecc1b] water as compared to the waste.

mine runs between 60 and 80 unless someone is running water elsewhere in the house, so that is pretty good i guess. it put out 220 gallons in a day and a half and is supposed to put out 100gpd, so not bad.

Pressure VS Water Quality
OK, this is a VERY late answer.....
The pressure is very important. The higher the pressure the better the water quality, up to the burst pressure of the membrane. Or should I say rupture pressure. If you understand Osmosis, than the natural occurring osmonic pressure always exists. So add a back pressure over comes or "reverses osmosis" and sends pure water through the membrane. Anyway, the higher the pressure the higher the water quality. That is NOT to say higher flow rates. You can only get so much water through a membrane, so the contact time with the carbon will not be affected by higher pressures. In a non-flow rate restictive case, it would be a problem to fly water thought the carbon. But that is a flow rate concern not pressure concern. Hopefully better late than never |
