Alternate live plant supplements

I am out of supplements for my freshwater live plants. I have recently broke down my saltwater reef tank and have leftover coral supplements. Some of them contain the same foods that live plants require ( magnesium, potassium, iron, etc) Would it be ok for me to use these on my plants before I go and buy the correct supplements? and if so, would the dosage be the same as it would be for corals or would it have to be greater or smaller?
