Angelfish breeding

I am new member.
This is my first posting.
I am having problems with hatching angelfish eggs. I have a breeding pair, the female an ordinary striped variety, the male a beautiful gold colored mutant. The first spawning abou two months ago pruduced may be 200 eggs of which about 40 hatched in water with a bit of methylane blue added. These are now doing fine. The second spawing I added a bit more methylane blue thinking that this way I could improve the hatching statistics. The eggs all died. The third spawning I did not add anything to the water in which the spawning took place. The eggs all died. Any suggestion?

If you aren't getting more than 40 hatch from a spawn of 200, the eggs aren't being fertilized. I use enough Methylene blue that it is difficult to see the eggs, so that is not likely your problem.
Condition of the parents could be a factor (this is important), as could the substrate they are laying on. As an example a friend of mine was getting a poor hatch rate. He watched the male follow the female and deposit the sperm far from the eggs she just laid. His solution was to narrow the slate he was using and that helped.
A high flow rate in the tank could be a factor as well.
