hi. first time here. i found this forum googling a live rock question.
my name is doug, and i'm from paoli, pa.
i've been keeping reeftanks for a few years now, and my current tanks are:
tanks-
195 gallon display with 125 gallon sump, and my prop system is a 30 breeder with a 40 breeder sump.

lighting-
over the 195 are 3 x 250 watt hamilton 14k halides in lumenarc mini reflectors, powered by sunlight supply galaxy ballasts, and 4 x 54 watt T-5 UVL actinics with advance ballasts.
(over the refugium site a 125 watt, 6500k mogul based grow light with a batwing reflector)

the 30 breeder has a nova extreme pro T-5 unit (6 x 39 watt )

filtration-
the 195 utilizes a 125 gallon sump with a ASM G4X protein skimmer, a simple filter sock, and a large refugium.

the 30 breeder prop tank has a partitioned 40 breeder as a sump with 50 pounds of live rock in it, and a euro-reef CS6-1 skimmer.

flow-
the 195 has a closed loop with an oceans motions 4 way, and a sequence reeflo dart. also, in the tank are 2 koralia 4's and the return from sump is a mag24.

the 30 breeder has a mag7 for return, and in the tank are 2 mj1200's with hydorflo wave deflectors, and a koralia 2.

here are some pics....not as recent as i would like, but it will give you an idea-

5'x 30"x 25" high 195-

Very nicely done, BUT look at that empty wall space :p You could easily double the length of the tank :)

Welcone to AA :smilecolros:

WOW! Very impressive!
I agree with cmor, lots of empty wall space.....! LOL!

Oh yeah, welcome to the site.

thanks alot!
actualy, i had to go with a 5' tank due to the heater, and hot water heater needing relocation otherwise. believe me, i would have went with an 8 foot tank if i could!

btw-fijiwigi...the approximate cost of this setup(minus the prop system) was about 5 grand.

This is but again another fine example of why this newbie went freshwater. Looking at all that stuff I'm not sure if you're building a tank or a starship - I know I would have either have electrocuted myself or choked myself silly on all the cords
Great freaking work
And most importantly - Welcome To AA - I'm sure you're gonna hit it off with the saltwater guru's

Nice sps tank!

Where is Paoli? If it's near Maryland, we are working on planning a local trip to some LFS's in the area. Also, maybe you can get rid of some of those frags. :p

warped- it looks confusing, but it's really not.
my system is very simple believe it or not.

paoli is about 1.5 hours from maryland. my zip is 19301

That's easier said than done - You are talking to a guy who was often sent by my uncle to his friends house to find a left handed hammer and a bucket of steam.

thanks!
just a small update- we had a power outtage here not too long ago that lasted 14 hours. i purchased a generator, but it ended up being too late. i lost 90% of my fish and inverts. amazingly enough, the corals survived, and were only mildly stressed.

last tuesday i purchased a few new fish-
an achilles tang
a maculiceps, or spot face tang
a purple tang
a whipfin fairy wrasse
and a blue spotted jawfish

enclosed are some pics the day after i added them.
