First Visit, First Post

So I'm hoping I can get some good advice from more experienced people who can help me avoid mistakes common to first tanks. I have an interesting dilemma in that I cannot place myself into any category of experience. I work at a major US pet supply retailer, and after nearly a year, I feel that I know all the basics and have gotten a lot of "experience" from those I work with and sites online. However, I'm just now setting up my first tank, and want to do it right. I have a 29 gallon that I plan on planting and keeping 3 cories, 3 otos, and a couple smallish (7 fish each) schools of tetras. Hopefully with the advice form here and people I know, it will turn out great!
