Getting fish again!

Hey everyone! I've been lurking for a while, and recently joined. I just moved across a province and had to rehome my beautiful gourami and my fancy goldfish. All settled into the new place, so I've set up a 2.5 gallon betta cube, and just started a 10 gallon freshwater today. I'm annoyed I can only have a 10 gallon due to the apartment code, so my choices are so limited now. No pretty goldies
I'll probably put a dwarf gourami and some rummynose tetras. Definitely gonna plant it on payday. Not sure about a bottom feeder, I've only ever had a pleco and they get waaaaaay too huge for a 10 gallon lol.

The dwarf gourami and rummy nose tetras should be good. As for the bottom feeder I like an otocinclus as they only get to be two inches. I would recommend getting larger ones, and/or more than one. I had one, and it disappeared for a few days. We read that this often happens, and that they will usually reappear alive and well. Well, 3 days later, he unfortunately turned up dead, and I now realize that we didn't have enough algae in the tank. I am waiting for more algae to develop before I get a replacement, but while we had him, he was one of the most lively fish in the tank, and he was a tireless little worker. If you ever do have an over-abundance of algae, he is a great little guy to get. Just don't get him right away—I would wait a few months and only then if you have sufficient algae. Other than that though, certain types of Cory cats would be good sized for a 10 gal (one in particular that I saw at my LFS but I can't remember its name only grew to be 2 inches), but I don't have any experience with them.

Oh yeah. With the dwarf gourami remember that he would rather be bullied to death that fight back—I know from experience —and although I don't know anything about the temperament of the rummys, all I can say is do your research about that. Remember that just because a compatibility chart says that gouramis and tetras are compatible, doesn't mean that a particularly aggressive rummy won't tear him to shreds. Again, I don't know anything at all about rummys, but from experience, do your research.
