Greetings from Chicago

Hello everyone, I'm somewhat of a novice to freshwater fish. I'm here in search of helpful advice, information, knowledge…. I love fish but I don't have much experience in this hobby.

Welcome. There are a lot of good folks here who have helped me a lot. They will help you, too. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Start by reading as much as you can here. Also, if you can get an API Freshwater Master Test Kit, it is a very good investment.
