Hi guys,

My friend recently got me into fish. I went into my garage and found a 25 gallon tank adn set it up. I have a red tail shark and 2 male swordtails. A marigold one, and a red one. I hope to learn a lot from this site as i will probally have a lot of questions. And heres the first one..lol

With the sword tails if i wanted to get a girl, should i get one for each male? does it matter if one out numbers the other?

You should have 2-3 females per male.

Also the red tailed shark needs 50 gallon tank.

Welcome to AA! Swordtails and other livebearers should be kept in the ratio of one male to at least 2 females.

Welcome! As the other peoplehave said, the shark needs a 50 gallon min and if you want a female get 1, but be warned they will reproduce like rabbits!! If you follow those bit of information and ask us more it'll be a great aquarium! BTW got any pictures?
