Welcome to AA.
We all have some pretty definite ideas about what fits in a 10g.

If you are fairly new I'd recommend a lovely Betta with some Ghost Shrimp and a Snail. Live plants will give you more to look at.
Instead of a Betta...not with a Betta
You could do
Endlers ( like mini Guppies )
Or
Ember Tetras
Or
Chili Rasbora
I love Celestial Pearl Danios (CPDs). Mine look like tiny trout. I have 7 in my 10g with Red Cherry Shrimp ( RCS).
This is a more intermediate level tank. I have lots of live plants.
I started it as just a Shrimp tank. If I'd stayed with just Shrimp and Otos I'd still see babies, now the fish eat them. So the babies have to hide.
A 10g is too small for most common petstore fish IMHO. Neons and Platies need more room IME.
So if you want to do something different consider an RCS tank.

My tank before fish. Otos are the only Shrimp Safe fish.
