Aquarium Advice Newbie
Just getting back into this crazy hobby after almost 15 fishless years.
We have a Bioocube 29 in our basement rec room ready to go. It's mostly stock to start with the exception of removing the bio balls and adding a media basket from Media Baskets.
Most of what we have is new: RO/DI, refractometer, heaters, test kits, even new buckets from Home Depot. I'm using ancient dry rock from our old aquarium as base with an aragonite substrate.
Once we get the tank running, I plan to cycle with a dead shrimp and add a few pounds of cured live rock.
The ultimate goal? A healthy CUC, some soft corals, couple of shrimp (the live , entertaining ones) and maybe a fish or two.
To do this right I'm thinking we have about a three-month cycling-startup ahead of us.
Happy to be here, and any advice is welcome. That's why I joined!
